Navigating Racial Issues in the Newsroom and in the Street

For the past few weeks, we've been watching coverage of protests over racial injustice, sparked in particular by the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer. It has led to discussions about how media covers race, the challenges diverse journalists face, and how many newsrooms need additional diverse voices on staff and in management.

Join NAHJ and hear from journalists and trainers who will touch on:

  • How to have conversations with managers about covering diverse communities and their issues
  • Managing dangerous situations while covering a story
  • How students can learn to be inclusive in their reporting
  • What steps newsrooms can take to include more diverse voices and be more inclusive in their coverage
